Lachnospiraceae

Description

The Lachnospiraceae are a family of bacteria in the order of Clostridiales which occur in the human and mammal gut microbiota. All species of this family are anaerobic.

Function


The Lachnospiraceae may protect against colon cancer in humans by producing butyric acid. Lachnospiraceae has been found to cause diabetes in germ free mice.
